2007-08-29 03:51  Grand Prix Ceske Republiky: Stoner crashes his competitors
The Gp Cinzano di San Marino is only a couple of days away and the luckily all the expectations for the race in Misano are erasing the questionable taste left by the race in Brno. The trinomial Ducati-Stoner-Bridgestone has once again ruled against all the limits imposed by conditions and reasonable outlooks. As Jim has pointed out in his blog, next year it would be auspicious to have only one brand of tire to bring guarantee a œstandard field where are riders and motorbikes to win and not tir …

1st Casey Stoner "It went really well again today. We had a little problem with the rear brake at the start of this afternoon's session, so we missed maybe 20 minutes. Once we had that fixed we were quite fast on race tyres that had had a few laps on them, so everything seems to be working quite well. Pole position is just a nice add-on, it's been another successful weekend, we've been quickest in every session bar one and things just seem to be going quite well for us at the moment. We definite …

2007-08-01 22:05  TT #51: Dutch provinces
Thirteen provinces of The Netherlands This week I decided to teach you a geography (and a bit of history) lesson about my country. I have to cheat right away, because my country only has 12 provinces. :-) I'll use the opportunity to tell you that "Holland" is not interchangeable with "The Netherlands". Holland is only a small part of the Netherlands. We have North-Holland and South-Holland. Holland used to be an independent country. It had a Count, its own coinage (until the 19th century), its o …

2007-07-17 20:41  Grand Prix Deutschland: a strange race
Only on Saturday I pointed out that Honda had been suffering one of the worst years of the last decade and on Sunday Pedrosa and Hayden took the first and third steps of the podium in the Sachsenring circuit. Indeed at the same track last year Pedrosa had the fastest time and Hayden took another third position. So the surprise was not much about the riders but the bikes and the. tires. Once again in this championship tires were the critical factor. The Bridgestone squad, Stoner, Melandri, Capiro …

2007-07-12 22:31  MotoGp Poll: Grand Prix Deutschland
Who is going to get the second place Sunday in Germany I say Stoner. Why Because last year Rossi won the race starting from 11th position, as he did in Assen 2 weeks ago. The Sachsenring circuit has 14 turns, it s tight, bumpy and with change of elevations that tend to upset the bikes. Also by being a short track usually the lap times are very close so we should expect some close racing for Sunday. Having said that I believe that in dry conditions Rossi should be able to win in front of the 2007 …

Japan Times on lessons of Akita International University debacle: "Thus, in this era of short term contracts, temporary jobs, and political shifts to the right, workers, foreign or otherwise, should remember they have rights and their employer has responsibilities. Unions, which only exist due to the support of their members, can point workers the way to "assen" mediation, a special labor disputes court, and, if those time and money saving options fail, can provide a union lawyer and sue the mos …

2007-06-30 15:06  Rossi wins MotoGP in Holland
Valentino Rossi came from 11th on the grid to win the Assen GP in championship winning style. Casey Stoner took the lead from the start and, while Rossi was held up in ninth place, it looked that a win was going to be a formality. But Rossi has won at assen six times and he was soon making his way past everyone and was challenging Stoner for the lead. Stoner kept Rossi it bay for a number of laps and three from the end Rossi moved past and the result never looked in doubt. Stoner sees his lead s …

Filed under: Motorcycle Racing The potential for injury in motorcycle racing is insane. Once thrown from their bikes, riders essentially become human speed bumps, and the further ahead a rider is at the time of the accident, the greater potential for them being a.) run over by fellow riders, and b.) causing additional horrific accidents in the process. in the clip below, disaster seems to pass Toni Elias by; crashing on a curve, flying into the safety of the outfield, with his bike flung far awa …

2007-06-28 09:48  MotoGp Poll: A-Style TT Assen
Last Sunday, Colin's second place was somehow a surprise considering that we would have imagined a better performance by Rossi or by Vermeulen, the Suzuki Rizla specialist. I have read that even in Assen there could be rain conditions, a critical situation for Valentino considering that his Michelin rain compound do not seem as good as those for dry conditions. Anyhow, MotoGp.com has posted the results of the FP#1 with Stoner preceding Rossi with a gap of .04, Hayden with .18 and Edwards with .4 …
