2007-09-03 11:12  A Long, Meandering, Poorly Written Post About Poker That Ends With Me Ejaculating in a Drink
So I'm off all this week and part of next week (except for one day, oddly) from work. I have nothing to do. Nothing. Anyone remember on Married With Children when Al would go on vacation by sitting on his couch That's what I'm doing. Except for next Saturday-Sunday. I'll be taking my second plunge into the New Jersey State Poker Championship, a tournament with a moniker that begs to be mocked. Doesn't it sound like a high school event Like, instead of getting up and hitting the road at 7:30 a.m. …

2007-08-29 02:30  BlogPoll: Preseason Poll #2
It's a big week in the blogosphere, as the edited version of the Preseason BlogPoll is out tomorrow. I've performed some major surgery on mine; the arguments in this week's roundup are well-reasoned. I've been convinced on many counts: that Tennessee consists of Erik Ainge and a cast of thousands, that Oklahoma is better than Texas, that Auburn stinks, that Hawaii doesn't deserve to be mid-poll, and so on. My new and improved ballot: Rank Team Delta 1 Southern Cal -- 2 Michigan -- 3 Florida -- 4 …

2007-08-26 07:21  Landy Cakes is a wimp and I hate Steve McClaren
So good I had to put this in its entirety (first half of this post), and plus I completely agree. (Landy Cakes portion) From Throughball.com I m going to skip all the usual Donovan banter about him not being able to handle playing club ball in Europe and just ask why he did not start last night for LA. Donovan played 64 minutes against Sweden, he is 25 years old and is not currently carrying any injuries. Beckham, on the other hand, played 90 minutes against Germany, is 32 years old, and is carr …

2007-08-25 21:31  "Man Up" and celebrate
Today some of us in the community took time out of our day to formally welcome back and celebrate our Mid-Atlantic Regional Little League Champions, the West Salisbury Little League All-Stars. I'm betting somewhere else on the local blog scene are pictures of the parade that happened this morning, I chose to attend the formal celebration at Perdue Stadium. However, this post is dedicated to the parents. Once upon a time I was a T-ball and softball dad, my daughter played from the time she was in …

2007-08-25 03:26  Ranking The ACC Atlantic Division Teams: Wake Forest
Can Cinderella do it again Wake Forest won the Atlantic Division in 2006 and won the ACC championship against Georgia Tech in Jacksonville. The Deacons went 11-3 and lost in the Orange Bowl to Louisville. The excitement is so high that the school is undertaking a major renovation of the stadium. Not sure one year of success is enough to commit millions of dollars to the football program. There is one sure thing this year. No one is going to take the Deacons for granted especially the Noles when …

2007-08-22 05:34  CFB Preview: Part III - ACC & WAC
In the second day of previewing each conference, it's now time to get into it more in-depth. Today we're going through the ACC and WAC. I saved the WAC for an actual write-up even though it's a non-BCS conference simply because Hawaii or Boise State could be in the BCS this year. First though, let's check in with the ACC. ACC - ATLANTIC Clemson (9-4) Florida State (8-4) N.C. State (7-5) Wake Forest (6-6) Maryland (5-7) Boston College (5-7) Florida State could easily take over this division, but …

2007-08-21 01:48  Off the Tracks Big Ten Preview
Now that the individual previews are done and I know a little bit more about each team we are facing it is time to look at the conference as a whole. When I was comparing schedules yesterday I couldn't help but noticed that the Big Ten as a whole has some really weak non-conference competition this year. As a result, we could see about nine teams get the six wins necessary in order to qualify for a bowl game, as many of the teams that would be right on the edge have super soft non-conference sch …

2007-08-20 13:45  2007 FanIQ College Football Conference Preview - ACC
Ah, College Football. Its the most wonderful time of the year. Better then New Years Most Definitely. Better then Christmas Definitely. Last Year was a crazy year for the ACC. Down years for usual national powerhouses like Florida State and Miami. Mediocre years for Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech and a GREAT year for Wake Forest. No one could have predicted that would have happened but it did. It seems like there is that same type of uncertainty again this year.   The Atlantic Division is probab …

2007-08-20 04:00  Making a splash
With their first Atlantic Coast Conference championship already under their belt from last season, the Florida State swimming and diving team is already making great strides in the water. Add a top assistant coach, and four new swimmers, all British imports, and FSU has the makings of a team clearly headed in the right direction.

The Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal Division may come down to a one-team race. Virginia Tech hopes to build upon a disappointing finish to last season and compete in the ACC championship. Several other teams will look to contend with the Hokies for the division title including last season's winner, Georgia Tech.
