Dick Gephardt and his lesbian daughter, Chrissy, appeared in CNN with Wolf Blitzer to promote a film that I think will change a lot of hearts and minds. It's a superb documentary called "For the Bible Tells Me So" and the Gephardts are among the handful of Christian families with gay children profiled. We follow their journeys. Some endings are happy, and some are not... Related posts: - The Man Behind "For the Bible Tells Me So" - Experiencing "For the Bible Tells Me So"

2007-10-14 18:31 Senator Lindsay "DADT" Graham Advocates Overthrowing the Elected Gov't of Iraq
Just a few minutes ago Senator Graham, being interview by Wolf Blitzer on CNN, clearly stated that if the current government of Iraq cannot pull off political reconciliation of all the disparate groups of Iraq within 90 days, he will admit that the current government will never be able to do so, and then "we" will have to consider replacing the al-Maliki democratically elected government with a government that can achieve American goals in Iraq. This is the very height of chutzpa, gall, arroganc …

2007-10-12 04:00 Worst President in U.S. History Condemns Bush
James Earl Carter, the worst President in the 20th century if not the entirety of U.S. History, has condemned President Bush for supposedly approving the torture of war prisoners. Wolf Blitzer of CNN admittedly turned in one of the finest interviews of his career when he played host to ex-President Carter on Wednesday. A good reporter knows when to interrupt an interviewee and when to simply sit back and let the person talk. Blitzer's instincts in this case told him that he needed to simply let …

What better way to be dragged from my slumber than by the idiotic words of our worst president, Jimmy Carter: The United States tortures prisoners in violation of international law, former President Carter said Wednesday. "I don't think it. I know it," Carter told CNN's Wolf Blitzer ."Our country for the first time in my life time has abandoned the basic principle of human rights," Carter said. 2007-10-11 10:34 President Carter: Knows US tortures
Former President Carter told CNN 's Wolf Blitzer he knows the US tortures: Former president Jimmy Carter isn't just suspicious that the US is using torture to extract intelligence from detainees - he's absolutely convinced. Asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer if, by Carter's definition of the word, the United States had used torture during the Bush administration, the Nobel Peace Prize winner was adamant: "I don't think it, I know it," he said. "Certainly." Pressed by Blitzer on whether that meant that …

It s been way too long since I have posted. CNN: Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden will address the American people by videotape on the sixth anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks, a terrorism watch group said. 2007-09-03 12:00 Notes on Week 1
After watching a lot of football on Saturday, here are some notes: LSU played dominating defense without really giving VT anything to prepare for. We rarely blitzed, and when we did it was usually a simple linebacker blitz. We only brought one corner blitz, and that was way at the end of the game, and Jai Eugene was the blitzer. We stayed in either a 4-3-4 or a 4-2-5 the whole game, with McCray playing like a linebacker, and we played a lot of zone. I'm sure Bo Pelini will be giving VT a lot of …

Debate is good. I love the debate we do here on this blog. In my loftT way I would like to see free airtime for politics and real spitfire arguments between the candidates. What do you think about an American Idol type of voting on who did the best in your opinion kind of an approach. No commercials, no Wolf Blitzer, no holds barred. 2007-08-29 13:00 Should the Cowboys have taken Quinn
I don't believe they should have, but Gregg Easterbrook thinks so At Texas Stadium, they'll be watching the scoreboard and rooting for the Browns to lose. Dallas holds Cleveland's first-round choice in the 2008 draft. "Play Quinn! Play Quinn!" the Cowboys' faithful will chant, considering that starting rookie QB Brady Quinn might brighten Cleveland's long-term prospects but also lead to another cellar-dweller season for the Browns in 2007. Why do the Cowboys hold Cleveland's 2008 first choice Be …

2007-08-29 12:58 Maybe Craig is Bisexual
Maybe the media is asking the wrong question to a GOP member that has been trained in the rovian skill of hairsplitting He denounced the longstanding probes by the Statesman -- he called it a "witch hunt" -- for inspiring him to plead guilty to the offense even though he said he was actually innocent. He said he had been "viciously harassed" by the newspaper. "I am not gay," he said twice. "I love my wife." ...snip... His full remarks on The Statesman read: "For eight months leading up to June, …

2007-08-29 03:48 On Larry Craig
One of the advantages of being associate dean is that I don't have a lot of time to browse through the blogosphere. So today I missed what must have been quite the feeding frenzy about Larry Craig and his not so excellent adventure in a bathroom at the Minneapolis airport. But with Wolf Blitzer screaming at me at the gym today I had no choice, as a gay man, to think about this sad episode. In particular, this event has forced me to think about my attitude toward outing. Now of course Larry Cr …

Via BooMan :Sen. Larry Craig is a weird dude. I can't relate. But it's important to remember that Craig tried to weasel out his arrest. After he was arrested, Craig, who is married, was taken to the Airport Police Operations Center to be interviewed about the lewd conduct incident, according to the police report. At one point during the interview, Craig handed the plainclothes sergeant who arrested him a business card that identified him as a U.S. Senator and said, "What do you think about that" …

2007-08-27 19:31 Wisconsin 2007: You Are Entering A World Of Pain
The Story You have to give it up for Wisconsin, a program with the momentum of a planet. Not even the retirement of the program patriarch could change the Badgers' identity as the preeminent purveyor of old school three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust football. PJ Hill ran, and ran, and ran, and ran. The defense lined up and smacked running backs into the ground. If you missed the whole retirement thing and squinted real hard you might have convinced yourself that Barry Alvarez was still stalking the …
