2007-10-17 23:32 Police station vandalized in Amsterdam after officers kill mentally ill attacker
This entire story is a cover up, the mentally ill man was 22-year-old Bilal B., a Dutch man of Moroccan descent, he had been in a psychiatric hospital as recently as Sunday morning. He was an associate of the "Hofstad Group" a group of radical Dutch Muslims that includes Mohammed Bouyeri, serving a life sentence for the 2004 murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh. The minor riot resulted because a infidel woman had the nerve to kill a Muslim male. The real crime here is most of the news sources di …

2007-08-17 11:49 Fitz says kick Muslims out of Europe
Dhimmi Watch: Study the threats, and the response to them "Hugh Fitzgerald", the person Robert Spencer calls on (or pretends to be, as some suspect) when he wants to publish an intellectual-sounding article, calls on countries in Europe to follow the example of Benes and Masaryk in Czechoslovakia and expel the Muslims. This is in response to a claim by "Appa", a Dutch Moroccan rapper, that if he got his hands on the bigoted politician Geert Wilders then Wilders would "be his", i.e. he'd harm him …

2007-08-14 16:44 Dutch Bishop wants "Allah"
The website, Islam in Europe, citing a Dutch language report, said on August 12, 2007, that, "The Bishop of Breda, Tiny Muskens, thinks "Allah" is a beautiful word for God and suggests it from now on. He is aware that using the name "Allah" would be very emotional and therefore he says it must be thought about, prepared and weighed in advance. However, he is convinced it will happen, whether it be over a century or two. Muskens had worked in Indonesia for eight years and had prayed there to Alla …

2007-08-14 13:49 Just when you think...
... it can't get any more ridiculous, it gets more ridiculous. With respect to the pre-emptively surrendering of the Dutch to islam, I mean. The Catholic church in the Netherlands has gained a reputation of being a bit overly accomodating to the members of the flock of the Religion of Peace (tm). In the recent past we has cardinal Simonis saying he thought a muslim would be higher placed in heaven then even the dear cardinal because 'They have a lofty idea of their faith. Their solidarity is gre …

2007-08-13 14:13 Stenger's Failed Hypothesis
This weekend, I read God: The Failed Hypothesis: How Science Shows That God Does Not Exist by Victor J. Stenger (2007. Amherst, NY: Prometheus Books.). Any book that has two subtitles is obviously going to be worth commenting on Stenger's book is typical of the new breed of anti-theists (including folks like Dawkins, Harris, et al ) insomuch as he relies on a lot of hand waving and rhetoric to overcome his horrendous logical and philosophical problems. Stenger begins by defining what he means by …

2007-08-06 08:39 Amsterdam: Moroccan-Born Mayor Dispenses Tough Love to Immigrants
For one Amsterdam mayor, the Netherlands' famous tolerance has gone too far. Morrocan-born Ahmed Marcouch is taking the tough cop approach in a rough Amsterdam neighborhood, pushing his fellow immigrants to integrate. But some consider him a traitor. A street festival is in full swing in Amsterdam's Slotervaart neighborhood. The occasion is the dedication of a new community center for Christians and Muslims designed to foster interaction between the two groups. As the crowd listens to music, mun …

2007-07-06 19:06 Understanding Islamist Terror: Radicals, Moderates, and Reformists
Islamist Free Speech Expressing their identity crisis... (Image from Wikipedia )As I noted yesterday, part of the problem that we face in Islamist terrorism is understanding the preconditions and the triggering factors. Later in the day, I happened to read an International Herald Tribune article that addresses some of these very issues. Written by Peter R. Neumann, director of the Center for Defense Studies at King's College London, the article is titled "A crisis of identity and the appeal of j …

2007-06-27 09:28 Rushdie and "secular fundamentalism"
This is the second in a series of posts inspired by Salman Rushdie. For the previous one, see here. These were all written last week, in the immediate wake of the knighthood, but I've had limited internet access since then so apologies for posting as the issue cools down. I promised, some weeks back, to clarify my position on what I have been calling secular fundamentalism . This post will not really clarify it, but clear some ground, prompted by the latest twist in the on-going Rushdie affai …
