2007-10-20 11:55 Tungviktare i TUF7
Det har tidigare ryktats om att det skulle vara mellanviktare men en post på mmajunkie säger att det ska vara tungviktare. Den bloggposten är nu borttagen utan någon information om varför. Men det här kunde man läsa: œThe Ultimate Fighter 7, which is set to begin production in April 2008, will feature a cast of heavyweight hopefuls. The pronouncement came today during a question-and-answer session with UFC fan-club members. The informal gathering, which was attended by approximately 1,000 club …

2007-10-19 14:44 Week 7 NFL Fantasy Flops
This article was originally published at my other site, End Zone Buzz Week 7 of the NFL season is upon us, so let's take some time to look at potential flops on your fantasy team. QB Ben Roethlisberger: The good news for Big Ben is that he gets his top two receivers, Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes, back after brief absences. The bad news is, the Steelers are playing at Denver and their two Pro Bowl cornerbacks, Dre Bly and Champ Bailey. Together, they have helped the Broncos become the number on …

2007-10-18 08:32 Deleting Files With Reserved Windows Names
If you ever run across a folder with a Windows reserved name, Windows Explorer will not allow you to delete it. This can be a huge annoyance as the folder exists, yet is "invisible" to folder manipulation commands. If you have ever run a Windows based FTP server, this is a common problem as wanna-be "hackerz" will create folders with these reserved names and upload their crap in the embedded folders. This is usually a result of having an anonymous public FTP (which you really shouldn't do). In o …

2007-10-15 19:11 Is the PAC-10 this Bad
We're 7 weeks into the schedule and the PAC-10 only has one undefeated team. That sounds about right, if you said that before the season started; USC would be undefeated and the nine dwarfs would be scrambling to keep up. Oh, but things haven't gone according to form this year, have they ASU sits atop the conference, the lone team without a blemish on their record, and everyone else is licking their wounds from some head-scratching defeats. How did this happen Is the PAC-10 this balanced or this …

2007-10-14 23:55 Ugly win a thing of beauty
Paris - Big sporting occasions can mess with people's minds. On Saturday night, as my brains were being blown out by the Marseillaise, I found myself making the sign of the cross and I very nearly cried. When I tell you that I m not sure I believe in God and that I blub about once every 10 years, usually when watching The Champ, you get some idea of the mind-bending atmosphere that was swirling round the Stade de France as England beat the World Cup hosts. The scenes after the final whistle will …

2007-10-10 00:03 Cosmic Skyscrapers -The 21st Century's New Architectural Icons
It happened quietly, on the other side of the world. Creeping ever upward, a skyscraper under construction in United Arab Emirates neared, tied, and recently surpassed Toronto's CN Tower as the tallest structure ever built. When completed, Burj Dubai will be somewhere between 2,300 and 2,700 feet tall (I love the varying estimates-- it's as though its architects and engineers have poured solution on Magic Rocks, but won't know the results until morning!) The CN Tower's website had not, as of 10/ …

Noted for his curve-contouring bandage dresses Herve Leger was a huge fashion hit in the 1980s. The body-con look was recently revisited by Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler and the label is back (without the designer himself at the helm) for fall 2007 with a collection based on Herve Leger vintage pieces. Sewn entirely by hand, they are sold under the Herve Leger Couture label. Signature style : Obandage dresses are the company's trademark. His designs are based on the simple principles of …

2007-10-08 08:32 Creating Icons Using Paint.NET
Not too long ago I wrote about my personal favorite graphics editing program, Paint.NET. While it does everything I need out of the box, I found it would not allow me to save icon (.ico) files. With a quick Google search, I had the solution. This plugin for Paint.NET allows you to save your graphic files in both .ico and .cur (cursor) format. Just follow the instructions in the post and it works like a champ.

2007-10-06 14:51 New Version of an old Story
hey ppl... something REALLY worth reading... TORTOISE AND HARE Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster. They decided to settle the argument with a race. They agreed on a route and started off the race. The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time. Then seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he'd sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race. He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise plodding on overto …

2007-10-04 05:42 Lunch chez Chartier
We were sitting in the sun at the café du Champ de Mars and I was thinking about lunch. We had at least two choices and in Paris you all know there are many more lunch choices than that we could stay right where we were and order some lunch there. Or we could get outselves over to the Bouillon Chartier, not far from the Opéra on what are called the Grands Boulevards. I was still leaning toward that option, because Chartier is such a typically Parisian institution. I wanted Joanna and Janice to s …

2007-10-03 06:41 Coming down
Looking down on a big apartment building that sits almost directly under the Eiffel Tower I still haven't been out of the house for more than two minutes at a time since I got back from Paris. This is not the first time I've ever had a bad chest cold, or bronchitis, or pneumonia, or whatever it is. The contrast, though, is what's striking. After a week of spending a lot of time on the streets of Paris, Saint-Aignan, Amboise, the Mont Saint-Michel, and other places on foot, not to mention many ho …

2007-10-02 22:48 Warning: These Self-respect Techniques Will Change Your Life
by Alex Shalman What has started off as a single article on the benefits of respect, grew into a follow up with 10 ways to respect others, and now finds us here as a full blown series. It s often correct to take care of ourselves, before allotting the time to take care of others. After all, if we re physically or mentally incapable of serving others, than we re not being very fruitful. In that essence, we must respect ourselves, before we are truly capable of respecting others. It s also intuiti …

The hazy Left Bank of Paris Click on the pictures to see them at full size. Joanna and Janice have no way of knowing how lucky they were to have fine weather for nearly all of the week they spent in Paris and Saint-Aignan. It was even nice at the Mont Saint-Michel. The last day we spent in Paris, a Friday, was bright and sunny. The next day, I dropped J & J at the airport and drove back to Saint-Aignan alone under thick gray clouds, through a steady rain. It hasn't really stopped raining since t …

2007-09-30 06:25 Another must: the Eiffel Tower
We left the Mont Saint-Michel at about 7:00 p.m. and drove the fastest route to Paris. That would be the autoroute that goes from Avranches past St-Lô to Caen, and then on to Rouen and Paris. I figured it would take us at least three hours. What with stopping to pay tolls at several booths along the way, and a couple of rest stops to get a cup of coffee and make a phone call home (not to mention my getting lost in Avranches at the beginning), it ended up taking us exactly four hours. The Eiffel …

2007-09-27 15:30 Global Social Networking Machinations: Facebook Takes UK, Friendster on the Move in Asia
It turns out that the hype about Facebook this year ain't just hype. In the UK, Facebook has surpassed reigning global social networking champ MySpace for the first time, with a whopping 541% increase in audience since December 2006 (MySpace rose a relatively sedate 20% during the same period). Meanwhile, Bebo, a company you don't hear about a lot in the US, moved to take a strong third in Britain. And over on the other side of the planet, Friendster a site often thought of as an also ran in web …

2007-09-25 12:32 ProDawg of the Week
I almost had to call this post ProDawg of the Weak. Reggie Brown continued his ineffectiveness despite his team putting up 56 points. Hines got injured and went catchless. Champ did have 8 tackles but when does a team want their corner to have to tackle that much And Leonard Pope backed up my previous statements by not even getting targeted in Week 3. One bright spot was Martrez Milner's first career reception for the Falcons followed by a UGA shout out by Tony Boselli (credit Jim). By the way, …

2007-09-22 11:00 The Edwardian Season
By Camilla Bartley The London season was coincident with the Parliamentary session, and from February to July the dinner parties and other entertainments arranged for the amusement of the politicians and their belongings exceeded the sum of those given in all the other European capitals. From the opening of Covent Garden to the Royal Drawing Rooms to privates balls and concerts to the races at Ascot (Royal Enclosure, below right) and Goodwood, London and its environs were packed with not only Br …
