2007-10-18 23:54 Message from Ron Paul (10/18/07)
The other day, my old sparring partner in so many Congressional committee hearings, Alan Greenspan, was on the Fox Business Channel. After Alan promoted his new book, the reporter asked if we really needed a central bank. Greenspan looked stunned, and then said that was a good question; he actually talked about fiat money vs. a gold standard. Now, the ex-Fed chairman is not about to endorse our sound monetary policy, but you know our Revolution is working when such a question is asked in the mai …

2007-10-17 15:19 Zorkot Claims Rumors of Homosexuality Forced Him to œJihad-up
Dearborn Police Not Buying Jihadist Houssein Zorkot's Excuse By Chuck Hustmyre Crime Library DEARBORN, Mich.(Crime Library) Houssein Zorkot just wanted people to think he was tough. That's why he donned dark clothing, painted his face black, and crept through the shadows of Hemlock Park carrying a loaded AK-47 assault rifle. At least that's what he told police detectives and FBI agents hours after his Sept. 8 arrest, according to a source familiar with the investigation. According to the source, …

2007-10-16 21:31 Giuliani Sitting Atop an Unstable GOP Race
Here is a headline you never thought you'd read: "Giuliani Generates Most 'Enthusiastic' Support From Republicans." Those words are carried atop a report about a new Gallup Poll that shows Giuliani continuing to lead the Republican field nationally. Superficially, the poll represents more good news for the former New York mayor, but it could almost as easily be interpreted as indicative of the fundamental instability in the Republican race. Start with the good news for Giuliani. He leads with 32 …

2007-10-15 19:45 Union Support Mostly Rhetorical by GOP Presidential Candidates; Views Mixed on Trade
The nine Republican presidential candidates met yesterday in Dearborn, Mich., where they offered some qualified rhetorical support for unions. But their records show a different picture--and several went out of their way to bash freedom of association (the freedom to form unions) as spelled out in the U.S. Bill of Rights.

2007-10-12 15:38 Giuliani Says Romney's Statement on Iran a 'Mistake'
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani smiled as he criticized what he depicted as a gaffe made by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the man who has emerged as his primary opponent for the GOP presidential nomination. "I think the governor knows he made a mistake," Giuliani said in an interview with ABC News, referring to an eyebrow-raising response Romney gave at a Republican debate in Dearborn, Mich., that he would seek the advice of lawyers before attacking Iran's nuclear facilities. "You s …

In the spin room after the Republican debate on Tuesday evening in Dearborn, Mich., a reporter from the Arab-American News asked Ron Paul what he thought of the term "Islamic fascism." "It's a false term to make people think we're fighting Hitler," Paul responded. "It's war propaganda designed to generate fear so that the war has to be spread." Now, when Paul asserts that the war in Iraq is a mistake that is bankrupting America, he's making a serious argument which current polls suggest a majori …

2007-10-12 06:13 Washington Post Asks Ron Paul if He's Too Angry to be President
Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul said today that he could see no possible reason to ever launch military action or initiate a war, vowing instead to battle efforts he said are undermining the individual liberties of people in America. In an interview with Washingtonpost.com's PostTalk program, the Texas congressman said he could see "no reason" to justify military action if he were elected president. He compared the United States to a schoolyard bully and said the country has no reason t …

2007-10-10 21:37 Rudy Giuliani Radio Ad "Them"
The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Committee today announced it will launch a new radio ad in Iowa, entitled œThem. The ad highlights Rudy Giuliani s fiscally conservative record as Mayor of New York and draws sharp contrasts between his forward looking economic plan for America and that of the Democrats. VOICE OVER: œHere s Rudy Giuliani. MAYOR GIULIANI: œDemocrats want to move in the direction of much bigger government, socialized medicine, increasing government regulation, much higher taxes. …

2007-10-10 04:00 Fred Thompson Joins the Political Big Leagues
Fred Thompson joined the political big leagues by appearing side-by-side with his GOP rivals in the Oct. 9 debate in Dearborn, Michigan. Apart from a rusty start after being tossed the very first question by Chris Matthews, the candidate settled down fairly quickly and actually began to appear comfortable discussing the issues. This was Thompson's very first foray into the national spotlight within the context of a major political debate. As a U.S. Senator his campaigns were regional. As an acto …

2007-10-10 03:40 Democrats to Michigan -- buzz off
Tuesday afternoon, as Republican presidential candidates readied for debate in Dearborn, Michigan, Democratic presidential candidates withdrew from Michigan's renegade early primary. Edwards, Biden, Obama, Richardson, Kucinich and Clinton believe in playing by the rules. Although their interpretations differ slightly in this instance. The first five will not participate in the primary; Clinton will keep her name on the ballot. None of them will campaign in the state. "Americans who play by the r …

2007-10-10 02:10 CNBC Republican Debate: My Summation
This afternoon, after classes, I watched the CNBC/MSNBC/Wall Street Journal Debate from the Ford Community Theatre in Dearborn, Michigan. Normally, I am skeptical of anything dealing with Chris Matthews because the shows that he hosts (Hardball and Chris Matthews Show) are both in the dungeons as it pertains to the Nielsen ratings and he's really just a blatant partisan liberal. However, I actually thought today's debate had some usefulness. It was much better than the first GOP debate that MSNB …

2007-10-10 00:22 Chris Matthews: The Punk Strikes Again
Everyone knows that Chris Matthews of MSNBC is a biased, featherweight partisan who poses as a serious journalist. And just in case they didn't know it before, everyone now knows that Matthews is a punk to boot. Known for pulling embarrassing stunts that put guests, politicians, and other newsmakers on the spot, Matthews demonstrated during the GOP debate in Dearborn, Michigan on Oct. 9 that he will not hesitate to resort to dirty tricks in order to attempt to embarrass those with whom he disagr …

2007-10-10 00:00 Comments on Oct. 9 GOP Debate in Dearborn
As expected, Fred Thompson loomed large in the GOP debate in Dearborn, Michigan Tuesday afternoon. After skipping out on all previous debates, given that he was not yet a candidate, the fact that Thompson has skyrocketed to a statistical tie with Rudy Giuliani meant that all eyes were on Fred. Thompson even occupied the center stage in the debate, which inadvertently served to further highlight his looming stature, figuratively and literally. Chris Matthews asked Thompson the first question of t …

The large crowd decked out in school colors carried signs, cheered and chanted. Gabriel Pendas, President of the United States Student Association, fired the crowd up and encouraged them …
