Det finns en facebookgrupp som heter "I am a product of washed up hippies and their 70's/80's children's shows." 2007-10-29 12:23 Monday Morning Uni Watch
It's good to see that all the finest aspects of pro football were on display yesterday in London, where the Giants and Dolphins sloshed around in the mud for three hours before adjourning for fish and chips. But Mark Roberts (or, as the wire service captions identified him, "serial streaker Mark Roberts") gave us plenty of Uni Watch fodder, even with his abbreviated attire. Consider: NFL officials wear socks with two white stripes, but college and high school zebras wear socks with Northwestern …

2007-10-25 00:11 Screenwriting structure Part 6 Research
You might be wondering WHY I'm slamming screenwriting structure and research together... Well I can only tell you how I do it and what I tend to do prior to writing any part of a screenplay is research but I also like to research as I pull my structure together. Research is a powerful way to get the old synapses firing on all cylinders and getting you to ask all the right questions about your story... I'm a huge list-maker. As I simply THINK and ponder about my story, hundreds if not thousands o …

Famous visitors include Ngawang Namgyal in the 17th century and Milarepa. The name means "Tiger's nest", the legend being that Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) flew there on the back of a tiger. The monastery includes seven temples which can all be visited. The monastery suffered several blazes and is a recent restoration. Climbi …

TODAY After it was revealed that President Alexander Gonzalez endorsed the hunting of red-listed animals in Tanzania, Sacramento State called in media relations expert Doug Elmets to help the university save face. Elmets, president of Elmets Communication, once worked in the White House under the Reagan Administration as a speechwriter, but is best known locally for the "Yes on Q & R" campaign, which proposed a tax increase to pay for a new arena for the Sacramento Kings.

Samantha Morton plays the wife who helped him fight his demons, and Tony Kebbell excels as the band manager. But it's Corbijn, shooting with a poet's eye in a harshly stunning black-and-w …

2007-10-16 16:25 Melvin Sokolsky: Seeing Fashion
The period between 1955 and 1970 has become widely recognized as a kind of golden age in American magazine culture. In these years the commercial imperative had failed to over-ride the arguably irrational urge to utilize mass-circulation periodicals as a platform for personal expression. Following a time of neglect or indifference, the legacy of many photographers, artists, and designers is again investigated and celebrated. One of the more unusual figures in this pantheon was Melvin Sokolsky. H …

2007-10-16 15:16 Anyone here speak Giddens
Can anyone translate the conclusion of today's Guardian article by the former Blair guru Anthony Giddens into plain English It goes: Therapists such as Susie Orbach have long insisted that developing emotional literacy should be the foundation of most areas of social policy. I agree. Whenever individuals' behaviour is controlled by habits that they should control, we are at the fulcrum of the relationship between domination and freedom. Government has been reluctant to intrude, but now it must.
