2007-10-26 20:56 Facebooks hyperambitiösa planer. Riskkapitalet förändras i Silicon Valley

I've just come off a long and disturbingly sweet (in a decidedly evil fashion) phonecall with petulans. I was out on the back yard while we talked so I could smoke at my leisure, and did. I'm now back in my ACd room and freezing, but I had to sit down and tell you ALL about it. Yes, I'm aware it's 2:36 am, thank you. After lobbing and parrying so many nice comments about each other, we ought to feel pretty damn good about ourselves for some time to come. You, beloved LJ friends, reap the benefit …

2007-10-10 20:46 The Making of Ghee/ clarified Butter
After many experiments, I now regularly make Ghee/clarified butter at home. It make me feel happy and tastes good too. In India my mom collects cream from milk and makes butter and then ghee out of it. It used to be a wonderful process. This is how I make it here in US. Preparation Drop 2 sticks of unsalted butter in a deep bottomed pan and heat it on medium low flame. once the sticks have melted lower the flame slightly and leave it for about 10 minutes. Never increase the flame to high. The bu …

2007-09-03 14:09 Memorial Day
Well, after a couple of intense days of work, I've got some semblance of livable quarters here at the theater. The second floor is largely one expanse of area, but it will be quite the space once I get done. Oughta take about four or five months to completion, but we'll get there. I rolled into town Friday evening. Stopped at the diner and saw the boy, picked up the keys. That was a little awkward. I mean, we've seen each other over the past year, but always in private. I believe there will be y …

Wake up. Oh, jeez, it's Friday. That's good. TGIF and all that. Hold on, it's FRIDAY! As in the day before Saturday, and this Saturday is THAT Saturday! Notre Dame Football is back! Is it too soon to call in sick Is it too late to call in dead I need to throw some sausages onto my "Return to Glory" fueled Hibachi, throw a couple beanbags, and enjoy a few adult beverages. It's football season. Hold on, one second. I know you're excited for football season to start, but this year, it's not necessa …

2007-08-27 00:52 My Life in a Bulleted List
Because I haven't posted in a long time, except for the post I just posted, I'm going to provide quick updates TCO-flavored: in a bulleted list. Except I would like to take this moment to say that something is wrong with blogger, because when you use a bulleted list the formatting of the text changes--it gets really close together and annoying--and it does that too after you post a video (see the Ben Kweller video post). This annoyingness only shows up in Firefox, though, not IE. Well, I guess i …

2007-08-26 16:34 Gen Con 07 In Pictures
A few, crappy pictures, cuz I was down to my celly. But, here's what I have! A small horse, seen wandering about the streets of Indianapolis. You can't really see in the picture, but he's wearing sneakers and a leather hat. This was the cap of a long evening of running around and being a superspy; Kevin and myself collapsed into hysterical laughter shortly thereafter. Greg Stoltze in his incredibly uncomfortable Reign clapboards. He looks miserable because I insisted I get a picture, just as he …

2007-08-23 18:11 Reply to Spin-offs can be turn-offs
SeanPdesign posted a reply: ^__^ Thats creative thinking at its best VIP, you said it best. You are so right on brutha. You are speaking scripture! Christ spoke to the masses. He also met people where they were at, sat down with them face to face and ministered and witnessed to them. Being creative, doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of money or one thin dime. All it means is thinking outside the box, determining the issue, finding a solution for that issue, then executing the solution. When y …

2007-08-21 20:52 Yummies!
We ate here the last Friday night of the Iowa State Fair. Our usual is to hit this and/or the beef producers place (we ate there on Wednesday). Always worth the wait in line! (This light was flashing... I was happy to get the sign in this shot all lit up!) These are a TREAT!!! My handsome hubby has to have these every year... and I don't mind the stop either! (But my favorite yummy is the cup of cookies or, better yet, the bucket of cookies at the Barksdale cookie place.... the BEST right out of …

2007-08-20 16:03 The Non-Diet
So, um, yeah. I guess it is a diet, but I'm not calling it that. In an effort to not have a heart attack by the age 35 I have made a few small changes in my daily dietary intake. At the end of May I joined the gym at work. I have to say I've really enjoyed going. I started going everyday I went to work...so weekends and holidays were free. Eventually I allowed myself to taper off a bit, usually when something was going on at work that I couldn't get around, or was going to take up too much of my …

2007-08-18 08:34 Good Day Planned
I went to the commissary this morning and picked up some stuff including a dozen donuts. We're headed off to go swimming later on today. We're going to take food with us and just have a grand time. I'm really looking forward to it. I've been feeling more up lately which makes me happy. Maybe those baby hormones are actually starting to kick in like they are supposed to. Well, I'm going to grab another donut and relax on the couch until we head out. Warm wishes to everyone.

2007-08-16 08:00 In praise of the Daily Office
by Derek Olsen At six o clock on a Friday morning the darkened rooms of our seaside vacation condo were filled with the happy shrieks of our fifteen-month old younger daughter, affectionately known as Lil H. Dutifully I rolled out of bed, paused long enough to throw some clean clothes on me and fresh diaper on her, lobbed a bottle of milk somewhere in her direction, and strapped her in the stroller; the goal, of course, was to get her out as quickly as I could before she woke my sleeping in-laws …

2007-08-16 08:00 Karl Rove Who
So, Bossy is right now touring colleges with her teenage son. They are looking under every rock across New England. See that Honda that just passed in a haze of loose gum wrappers That s Bossy. Honk. As we all know Bossy and her teenage son woke up early Monday to begin their 6-day, 5-state tour. That s a lot of miles but lucky for Bossy she had her trusty copilot to keep her entertained: Bossy s first mission was to take a photo of each State Welcome sign to commemorate their trip. This is New …

2007-08-14 13:54 Rewards and Treats
My friends at Runners Lounge wonder what runners use to reward themselves when they overcome obstacles or achieve running goals. I sometimes allow myself to indulge with Cold Stone ice cream and sometimes it is pizza. I know I shouldn't but I rationalize it with the miles I have recently run. Running is not a natural activity for me. When the alarm goes off I have to force myself out of bed and out of the house. When I finish I am glad I went, but rarely do I wake excited to run. I think many of …

Sweet Mother's Kitchen cornbread $5.00 If there was one restaurant that won me over in Wellington, it would have to be Sweet Mother's Kitchen .The menu, a mix of Cajun and Creole dishes straight from Louisiana, was more than exotic for this wayward Australian. Hush puppies Beignets Po Boys Give me more! Music was a huge subliminal attraction, the catchy jazz tunes and Spanish guitar solos imploring me to enter and join in the fun. And the constant crowd of patrons, both inside and out, provided …
