2007-08-30 11:37 Villeneuve is satisfied with his progress.
No matter where you are coming from, when you are an Indianapolis 500 winner and an ex F1 world champion, you cannot go around the racing world unnoticed. This is exactly what is happening with Jacques Villeneuve this last month. Every new step he takes in his career is followed with attention by racing fans and by the press. Villeneuve is still of interest for the press and for racing fans. This summer highlighted us a new side of Villeneuve; a calm, confident and cool Villeneuve. The press kep …

2007-08-29 12:09 Premature Conflagration
This buzzkilling dude to the left [pic courtesy of AP], (who by the way, due to his face-painting color scheme, looks like he could've been plucked out of the student section at a Georgia football game), went and torched Burning Man early. Bummer. I guess now there won't be anything left to do but lay around naked in the dirt, flail awkwardly to bad music, and smoke dope. Kinda biffs up the whole itinerary, doesn't it It makes our decision not to go, which was actually made for us last year when …

2007-08-24 10:15 Shake And Bake: Villeneuve Enters Nascar
"My name is Jacques and I am a racing-car driver just like you except I am from Formula Un. I am the greatest one in the whole world." This must be what Jacques Villeneuve is thinking as he contemplates a career as a NASCAR driver. The French Canadian will test a Bill Davis Toyota Pick-up on Monday with a view towards racing them. Actually, this Jalop isn't a fan of NASCAR, Jacques Villeneuve or the formulaic idiocy of Will Ferrell, so we'll just sit back and laugh as the former World Champion e …

2007-08-21 13:32 Looking back: A year ago in The Garage
Another summer has come and almost gone, so I thought it might be fun to have a look back and see what we were talking about last summer. Just like this summer, there were car shows. The big one of course was our visit to Autofest at GM Canada headquarters in Oshawa. Paul Tracy was doing his best Francophone wrestler impression. Jim Toumaris visited the Woodward Ave Dream Cruise and hooked us up with some great pictures. Speaking of GM, it was announced that the new Camaro is going to be built i …

2007-08-14 00:05 Sebastien Bourdais Sent to the Slaughterhouse
There seems to be a strong inverse relationship between the niceness of the Champ Car champion and his odds for success in Formula One. Those who've ranked high on the rootability meter Cristiano da Matta and Alex Zanardi fared poorly in Formula One. Those who've won Juan Pablo Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve were whiny little jerks.

This week, I'm going to go through my YouTube favourites and pick some out, annotate them and shove them up here. A window into my soul, if you will. Or a window into madness. Either way is good. Today's offering: Ayrton Senna's qualifying lap for the 1990 Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez in a McLaren MP4/5B Honda. It's the 29th September 1990, and Senna, leading the World Championship with three rounds remaining, is going for pole. This lap, a 1m18.387, will beat his bitter rival and Championship co …

2007-07-05 07:19 Don't quit your day job
"I'm fierce like an orange, so y'all better...uh..." With it looking like LeBron James is going to cut a rap album [via SPORTSbyBROOKS ], I'm already preparing myself not to buy it. I'm not sure why LeBron wants to join the list of "athletes who made shitty albums" but it seems there's no stopping him. So then not for LeBron's sake, but for your sake, let's take a look back at some of the albums and singles put out by pro athletes, and we don't just mean the crap Shaq and Kobe did. Even Gary Pay …

The day at work would have been boring...if it had not been for the annual fire precaution meeting. Every employee has to attend to it. And in the last years, we got to see this really more funny than informative American documentation thingie "Get out alive" *laughs* That does not only sound really lurid...it was exactely that! Not to mention the awful German dubbing and the little 'issue' that the movie was from the 80s or something *laughs some more* So everyone pretty much expected this movi …

2006-03-27 18:09 News: Racing: Villeneuve: Webber's Sucky Cars Might Do Him In
Jacques Villeneuve commented that the psychological disadvantage conferred by driving underperforming cars could undo Mark Webber 's chances of winning. Webber, who famously spanked Damon Hill's time around the Top Gear test track and then got stomped by a newly mustache-free Nigel Mansell (is it bad that we care more about timed solo laps in a Suzuki Liana than we do about F1 competition), is running a Cosworth this year, now that BMW 's went out and bought itself Sauber. Message to Webber: gro …
