2007-08-29 16:43  I have a Dream!
Those famous words spoken by Martin Luther King Jr. on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in August 1963 had far reaching consequences for all of America's people, both coloured and white. Martin Luther King was a visionary, a brilliant man that never gave up on his dream no-matter what adversities he and his fellow man faced, which included jail time. His intelligence shows in his speech when he said "In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds." Martin …

2007-08-15 18:08  Lincoln Financial Sports Would Like You To Sweat Your Balls Off
I heard on Monday about the Gators changing the kickoff time of their first game from 6pm to 12:30pm, though I didn't catch the reason. Well, as it turns out Lincoln Financial Sports decided they wanted to televise the UF game, and unlike last year when they wanted to do the same thing, there were no other games available as a replacement. Jeremy Foley let's us know about all of the in's and

2007-08-10 20:39  Western Carolina kickoff time...
For those of you that keep asking what I know about the kickoff time - here it is: A friend of mine works at the CW here in Memphis and filled me in on a little bit of this. Lincoln Financial was supposed to announce today who they were broadcasting. They thought they could force either Alabama or Florida into playing the 11:30am kickoff on the first Saturday of September. That didn't quite work out to their liking. You won't find two more stubborn athletic directors in the country as Mal Moore …

2007-07-17 19:22  The Shark Jumper Series: NFL on FOX announcers
I realized this morning, perhaps a smidge too late to actually do anything about it, that it was July 17th. This led me down a fairly predictable path of worry and fingernail-biting: in a scant two weeks, it will be August. Within a week of that, it will be preseason NFL football. While that's great in some respects - you always randomly hear a legendary announcer like Pat Summerall doing preseason Seahawks games for no truly apparent reason - it's also an indicator of a whole new sports season …

2007-07-13 07:00  Dave Of Dave, Dave and Dave To Be Replaced By Dave!
. Well, this is horseshit. JP Sports, er, Lincoln Financial Sports football analyst Dave Rowe, long-rumored to be the father of Holly Rowe (he's not) is being kicked out of the broadcast booth after 13 seasons, to replaced by former Falcons qb Dave Archer. Crimony!  Seriously, Dave Rowe spent 28 years in broadcasting and has a Super Bowl [...]

2007-06-27 21:12  Where to next
BZ just wrote an extensive and thoughtful post on the potential 7-15 year plan for our broader cohort. He explains why the current urban non-affiliated model will have ongoing relevance, even as it become less relevant for us personally as our demographics change. I'd point out that unlike NYC this may be less of a worry in other major urban areas where there is somewhat affordable housing stock within miles of the main center. But that's a secondary argument. BZ's big question is where we shoul …
