2007-11-03 07:49 Google OpenSocial!
Andiamo su un sito oltreoceano, Pmarca.com : In a nutshell, Open Social is an …

Se llama : OpenSocial API blog y su primer post comienza tal que así: " The web is better when it's social" Friday, November 2, 2007 at 1:15 AM Posted by Amar Gandhi and Peter Chane, Group Product Managers There's no denying that the web enables communication. The killer apps of the web -- email, instant messaging, blogging -- have enabled us to communicate with our friends, family, and the rest of the world on a large scale. But there is a newer …

2007-11-01 10:09 BBC -- global news medium number 1
A month ago, eJour editor Helle Nissen Kruuse asked members of her LinkedIn network to "choose just ONE general, all round online news service". The results are in, and the BBC won easily -- with 48 of the 98 votes the good old Beeb was way ahead of the competitors. Helle quotes lots of the participants in English in the otherwise Danish language story. (The BBC was this blogger's choice as well, though the idea of choosing ONE medium appears almost archaic already.)

2007-10-31 15:13 Google und Open Social Initiative: Standard für Social Networks
NY Times : On Thursday, an alliance of companies led by Google plans to begin introducing a common set of standards to allow software developers to write programs for Google s social network, Orkut, as well as others, including LinkedIn, hi5, Friendster, Plaxo and Ning. The strategy is aimed at one-upping Facebook, which last spring opened its service to outside developers. Since then, more than 5,000 small programs have been built to run on the Facebook site, and some have been adopted by milli …

2007-10-23 17:47 Inversiones 2.0: Show me the ROI
La comparto ( la negrita es mía ) While Enterprise 2.0 is often described as œweb 2.0 …

2007-10-17 22:23 So What's Your Open Platform Strategy Do You Really Understand The "Widgetnomics"
Four months after Facebook unveiled its platform initiative, now everyone is talking about a platform strategy. Everyone in the technology ing space dream about creating the next web 2.0 platform. Virtually every major tech (software, mobile, hardware, broadcast, payment) company has a platform strategy, not to mention an equally elaborate set of plans to do whatever possible to stop any competitors from achieving platform status or anywhere near there. Over lunch yesterday, one of my business …

2007-10-15 03:34 Trip update 2 - Thailand, Bali
Just VERY quick one. :) We are still alive - most likely more info on Leonie's blog. Thailand was ok - Ko Samui was great, nice people, nice food etc, but Bangkok was, well, totally shit. Busy, dirty, unfriendly, con-artists everywhere etc. I dont think I'd even go there in transit, let alone leave the airport. Avoid at all costs. In contrast to Bangkok, Bali feels like home. Friendly people, lovely food etc. No need to go to Thailand again, I think - just come here :) Righto, back to the pool a …

2007-10-15 02:59 Social Netwoks May Be Just A Fad A Danagerous "May Be".
A week ago Microsoft s Ballmer was warning that social networking may be a just another fad. Google s Schmidt doesn t think that is the case. Here s what he was telling the journalists at the end of the Zeitgeist conference, a two-day gathering of an eclectic mix of Google co-opetitors, social activists and even politicians. œPeople don t appreciate how many page views on the Internet are in social networks. Social networks account for an ˜enormous proportion of Internet usage. It is very real. …

2007-10-15 01:30 Start the Presses - 10e20 Media Roundup
I have been meaning to post these 3 great articles in which we were featured last week but just got the time now. A few weeks ago I was at a conference and had the pleasure of quickly meeting and then listening to Barry Diller speak. One of the topics he spoke about was his search engine Ask.com's ad deal with Google and whether or not they were going to renew it. I spoke to a reporter about this a few weeks ago and said that I thought Google would wind up getting the business in the long run bu …

2007-10-14 23:43 Linked In A Box
LinkedIn Profile Update: Realized that this isn't an official Linked In service will need to investigate that further. Would love to hear from a Linked In rep on this. Mario I've been playing around with the Linked In widget called " Linked In a Box " (tip of the hat to Uwe Hook ). Feed readers will need to click over here to see the widget in this post. Content/functionality distribution on the Web via widgets/gadgets is nothing new but it just hit me that the #1 reason for a business do …

2007-10-14 17:49 linkedin opening api for business app developers
Caroline McCarthy at CNET's The Social, has a post about LinkedIn's latest announcement that it will be jumping on the open API bandwagon later this year; allowing a select group of outside developers to create apps and widgets that have a true business functionality (where's the fun in THAT). This comes as good news to those of us that work with more corporate clients who want to take advantage of the social media marketing/branded widget land-grab started by Facebook. In my humble opinion, t …

2007-10-14 02:37 Widgetbox Releases Facebook App Creation Stats - Are they the Cross-Platform Play
Fifteen days have passed since Widgetbox launched their App Accelerator which allows you to make easy Facebook applications. The stats the company sent over show over 700 applications created, many with over 1,000 installs. So far the top apps are: Perez Hilton, a Baby Ticker and a Magic 8 Ball. The team is also working on a monetization strategy.Mike from Techcrunch noted the following recently, "Platform competition is great for developers, but it also means they need to create and maintain se …

2007-10-14 01:06 Facebook Has LinkedIn In Their Crosshairs
Facebook may be used for professional networking (particularly in Silicon Valley), but it sure isn't set up to be. People's profiles are all about their dating status, pictures, vidoes and other very personal information. It's perfect for college dorm networking, but not so much for job or business development hunting.LinkedIn, by contrast, is set up

2007-10-13 17:37 LinkedIn CEO: There Will Be No Hamburger Slinging Here!
With all of the platforms launching these days (even our own), LinkedIn is taking the smart road and opening up their system to applications that expand their mission. LinkedIn is a business networking tool, period. And it should stay that way. While the Scobles of the world have left LinkedIn for Facebook, when I talk to business execs not in tech, LinkedIn is still their tool of choice.Saul over at the NYT has an interview with LinkedIn CEO Dan Nye. In it Dan discusses how they will open the s …

2007-10-11 14:36 Bank of America: Social Network für Kleinunternehmer
Inc'edIn Not exactly but it looks like Inc will be launching their new business social network shortly called IncBizNet. 2007-10-10 11:00 Could You Survive Without Google
I recently read a couple of posts at seobook.com that got me thinking (again) about how I could be sure that my internet business could survive without Google. Sometimes we tend to forget that Google does not owe us any traffic. They can do what they want with their site, just as we can do as we like with ours. Usually this realization comes as a rude awakening, when you have a site that has been getting a lot of Google traffic, and suddenly the traffic stops, or is at least cut back. This happe …
