2007-10-19 21:02 Best episode ever!
I have to say....best episode...this season! There are too many good parts to list, but the shining moment was Dwight reading Harry Potter to Mose, Jim and Pam. That combined my two greatest loves into one! Love it, love it! And hey, who doesn't imagine their first weekend away with their significant other without some manure in it Garbage!

2007-10-19 18:53 VENTING! :D
Sorry but I have to vent about how amazing last night's episode was!!!!! FIRST OFF: Dwight is such a sad little boy. I love him when he's adorable like this. So Pam booking a stay at the "Beets Motel" or whatever she would like to call it, was so cute. Jim driving there while Mose chased the car to the farm....hahaha....amazing. So funny that they had two twin beds to sleep on :p Dwight reading them a bed time story while *squeeee* Jim held Pam in his beautiful arms as they lay on the bed. AW. …

2007-08-31 23:08 Product Reviews - MAC Smoke Signals and Cargo PlantLove Lipsticks; Dear Makeup and Beauty Blog, the …
When I was 14 my mom bought me my first tube of lipstick. I cherished that Clinique tube of silver sophistication, and whenever I put it on I felt like an elegant world traveler was staring back at me in the mirror. My actual reflection, of course, was of an awkward teenager with braces, big, unruly hair and weird clothing (it was hard to be haute couture in the East Bay in the early 90s, and try as I might I could never quite get it right.) But that tube made me feel like I was the person I was …

2007-08-28 17:51 Sleep Pale Sister (Joanne Harris)
Sleep Pale Sister (Joanne Harris) Written before Chocolat, this is the reissue of Harris's Gothic novel set in the 1880s. It has all the usual atmospheric ingredients for a Gothic novel - the Victorian London setting, the dark-eyed gypsy women, the fortune tellers, the strange noises that might be ghosts or might be imagination, the tales of people buried alive, the sinister slinking cats with eyes glowing in the night etc. Henry Chester is a painter obsessed with portraying innocent, waif-like …

2007-08-28 01:39 Is This The Most Sexist Beer Ad Ever Bob Garfield Says So.
Bob Garfield of Advertising Age and NPR's On The Media has just reviewed what he claims is is the most sexist beer ad ever. He says the Heineken ad is"uncivilized by the most basic notion of respect" and that Heineken has "reduced half the world to a man-servicing beer tap" Check out the offending Heineken video and see for yourself. Do you find it offensive as Bob does Read some of the comments on the post and see what others are saying. Me Do I think it is sexist Perhaps a little bit, but this …

2007-08-26 18:15 Rising Tide 2: In Levees We Trust
Tim Ruppert from Tim's Nameless Blog provided some deeper insight to the Army Corps' plans for 2011 100-year flood protection during his presentation of "In Levees We Trust," a great title. As much as we decry the state of the levees, we really do depend on them to keep us dry. I don't have a lot respect or the concrete I-beams placed along the canals but I always seem to find myself gazing at the large, St. Aug-covered earthens that surround the lake and river. One of the main points Tim drove …

2007-08-19 07:24 Feral Cat Buddies
I have two feral cats that seem to have adopted me at home. There are two more on the periphery; a gray-and-white unit and another younger tabby unit. I can pet the first two. The second tier cats are standoffish and skittish. The first two cats seem to have made my house their home. Where I live, there are bears and raccoons and bobcats and, likely, cougars. Over the years, since I've been here, I've lost 3 cats and, after we broke up, my ex-girlfriend later lost Ida, a large Red-Boned Coon Hou …

In iPhoto 08 (iPhoto 7) you can preview the photos contained in an Event by slowly moving the mose pointer left-right while hovering, somewhat similar to the coverflow in iTunes. And a vain Hollywood wannabe poseur - good for a one-liner, but no substance to back it up. I guess this might explain why Thomas was on "official city business" when the laudable City Council vote was made to place a temporary moratorium on new Central City liquor licenses (and why taxpayers had to pay for the extra verbiage to explain his absence): Well, we're moving forward. With Oliver Thomas out of the way, we're one step closer to getting Marc Morial, and just two useless Cynthias away fro …

2007-08-11 16:02 My Friday Blues Were Fun
Last evening the wife and I listened to the presents she œbought me. Earlier in the day I had met a business partner of mine in Columbus. After the meeting, realizing I was in a metropolitan area, I searched out the nearest Barnes and Noble with the gift card my wife had given me in hand. Eagerly, I searched œHistory , œBiography and œPolitics . How appalling. œPolitics , bash Bush. œBiography , Bush is a moron. œHistory , future generations have already condemned Bush as the worst Pres …

2007-08-08 19:30 CFBA book of the week: And if I Die, by John Aubrey Anderson
I enjoyed the first two books in this series--the supernatural element intrigued me. For some reason, I didn't ask for a copy of this book (I have no idea why, except maybe that I've had to scale back on reviews due to time issues), so I don't have a review. But I hope everyone will join me in checking out the other members' reviews--I'm sure this novel will be well-liked. Enjoy! AND IF I DIE is the third book in the Black and White Chronicles. The first was Abiding Darkness (August, 2006), the …

2007-08-04 00:01 Lyrad's Random 10
Composer, bandleader and trumpet player Frank London has been at the center of the melding of Jewish music, jazz and avant garde for 30 years. A founding member of both The Klezmatics and Hasidic New Wave, he has been a fantastic contributor to every musical realm he's approached. "Bucket Cue" is the opening to his soundtrack for Jonathan Berman's 1993 documentary The Shvitz, a piece apparently on the New York Jewish steambath scene, which I have not seen. I am completely ignorant of the subject …

Click image to enlarge Gifted in satire and excellent with actors, writer/director Theodore J. Flicker made his fortune as co-creator of TV s Barney Miller while earning the applause of a niche audience for the subversive political comedy, The President s Analyst (1967). However, he had far more interaction in film and theatre than is commonly known though a lot of it may inspire some eyeball-rolling among skeptics: screenwriter of the Elvis vehicle Spinout (1966), director and co-writer (with B …

2007-07-28 17:48 Council of Ministers. Justice: Separation of the Career
Text: œAnother Friday, another Council of Ministers, another bunch of important decisions. We decided a lot of ordinary things, among these is a framework code to correct the existing tendering framework that is the collection of rules that regulate how tendering is done. This is an enormous collection of articles and it was necessary to do a series of corrections to make it more transparent and efficient. I have dealt with this, brought it to the Council of Ministers and we approved it. We also …
