2007-11-06 12:50  Blue Plate Special
It was another one of those Uni Watch red-alert moments last night, as about a dozen readers e-mailed me all at once and another half-dozen or so posted all at once in the comments section. The cause Jason Strudwick of the Rangers got in a fight and his nameplate came loose during the fisticuffs, revealing some nasty-looking adhesive residue on the underside. All of which is very entertaining. But here's my question: Since when have the Rangers been using nameplates I always thought they used di …

2007-08-28 10:40  Shooting Update
Here s the earlier post on this topic, Helping Hands, for those who may have missed it. Last weekend, Alex Strudwick and the Son&Heir participated in the Southwest Regional Shooting competition, held outside Houston. (The Southwest region draws shooters from Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.) The results were interesting. Son&Heir competed in two events: 10-meter Air Pistol and 50-meter Free Pistol. In Air Pistol, he placed top Junior and 5th overall, with a total score of 91.3% (his …

Which Western country does not have a government which subsidizes, even slightly, their Olympic and World Championship shooting teams If you guessed "the United States", go to the head of the class. Alone among the Olympic participants in the shooting sports, the United States Government does not contribute a single red cent to assist our shooters-all funding comes from donations and (very occasionally) corporate sponsorships. This is not a Bad Thing at all-it's just a fact of life. Now let me t …

2007-08-05 22:51  Who's "Out"
A few questions were asked about the last paragraph of Larry Brooks' column from Thursday, August 2: The Blueshirts are just under $49 million on the $50.3 million season salary cap. Their 23-player roster includes two goaltenders; eight defensemen (Marc Staal, Jason Strudwick and Andrew Hutchinson in, Thomas Pock out); and 13 forwards (Artem Anisimov, Ryan Callahan, Marcel Hossa, Ryan Hollweg and Colton Orr in, Brandon Dubinsky and Nigel Dawes out.) All the above paragraph means is that, with t …

2007-06-23 10:47  Three thousand year-old mummy discovered in Egypt
I got this story from Goggle alerts and there are some obvious errors in it, like there aren't 99 tombs in the Valley of kings. However TT99 is indentified here as the tomb of Sennefer http://www.digitalegypt.ucl.ac.uk/thebes/tombs/thebantomblist.html. Can anyone give me any more details http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Three_thousand_year_old_mummy_disco_06222007.html Archaeologists have discovered the 3,000-year-old mummy of a high priest to the god Amun in the southern city of Luxor, antiquities …
